What is PALS?

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is specialized training designed to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills to respond to pediatric emergencies. Bayside CPR offers AHA PALS courses.

PALS stands for Pediatric Advanced Life Support. A PALS course completion card from the AHA shows that a person is trained to recognize and manage life-threatening emergencies in infants and children, including advanced CPR and airway management.

Your American Heart Association (AHA) PALS course completion card from Bayside CPR is valid for two years.

PALS training is essential for healthcare providers who may encounter pediatric emergencies, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and emergency medical technicians.

Bayside CPR offers three convenient options:

  • Traditional: Attend a full in-person PALS course.
  • Blended Learning(Fast Track): Complete the online AHA HeartCode PALS, then attend a skills check-off at Bayside CPR.
  • CPR Verification Station(Most Popular): Complete the online portion(included) and skills check off at our CPR Verification Station.

Our PALS classes cover a wide range of topics, including:

    • Recognition and management of respiratory emergencies
    • Recognition and management of cardiac arrest
    • Post-resuscitation stabilization
    • Team dynamics and communication

The length varies depending on the option you choose:

    • Traditional: Approximately 10 hours.
    • Blended Learning(Fast Track or CPR Verification Station): Online portion 2-4hrs + in-person skills check-off (15 to 30 minutes).

The AH PALS course completion cards are valid for two years, regardless of how you complete the training. Whether you choose the traditional in-person class or the blended learning (fast track) at the CPR Verification Station, you will receive the same official AHA eCard. There is no difference, as all of our training is fully AHA-approved.

The AHA requires having access to the PALS Provider Manual.  Books are available for purchase at our conveniently located training locations. We also provide a helpful study guide located under our resources tab on this website.

Bayside CPR does not issue CEUs or CMEs. If you need CME credits, you can claim them by clicking on “Claim CE Card.” These credits are not required for the class, they are only necessary if your governing body requires something beyond the AHA course completion card.

We have multiple convenient locations across Maryland and Washington D.C. to provide American Heart Association courses for BLS, CPR, ACLS, and PALS, where you’ll receive your official AHA course completion card upon successful completion.
